Win Top Awards at 2008 Classics and Chrome Car Show
Local residents split $35,000 raffle grand prize ROCKFORD, IL - The Classics and Chrome Car Show was a huge success for the city of Rockford, Keith School and over 130 car and motorcycle owners. Considered one of the premiere car shows in the state and the largest indoor show in northern Illinois, a record crowd of more than 7,500 attended the two-day event. Ten cars were given show awards, eight by class, a Committee's Choice Award and the People's Choice Award. Aaron Grote of Rockford, took home the People's Choice Award with his original Bubble Top Roadster while Richard Driehaus of Chicago claimed the Committee's Choice Award for his 1930 L-29 Cord Cabriolet. Merrill and Smith won the $35,000 grand prize in the Classics and Chrome raffle. Merrill and Smith's ticket, which they purchased together, was selected from 810 tickets sold. Other raffle winners included: Randy McBain (2nd place) winner of a 60" HD plasma TV and two recliners from Gustafson's Furniture Adrian Niedermeir (3rd place) winner of $1,500 cash Barbara Bowers (4th place) winner of $1,000 in Mobil gas cards Jim Turner (5th place) winner of a full set of Tour Edge Irons, golf bag and four passes to Aldeen Golf Course. Proceeds from the entire weekend benefit Keith School. Keith School is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory school. Located on a 15-acre campus overlooking the Rock River, Keith serves students from age three through grade 12 from the Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin area.
